Day 1: Evening Departure from North America
Day 2: Arrival in Iceland (B)
Early morning arrival in Keflavik International Airport; transfer via Fly Bus. Welcome breakfast at Guesthouse Borgartun. Day open to spend as you like. We add trip out to Snaellfessness.
Day 3: Walking Through History (B, D)
Breakfast at guesthouse. Depart Reykjavik for Thingvellir National Park and a walk through the historical sites of the Viking Parliament. Take 2 hikes, one along the shore of Iceland´s largest lake and the other in an area of spouting geothermal steam fissures. (Total walking this day is about 5 hrs). Overnight for the next three nights in summer cottages with private bathrooms in Selfoss. After a busy day, you will certainly appreciate the hot tubs! Tonight enjoy a savory barbecue, Icelandic style.
Day 4: Rafting the White River (B, D)
After visiting the lively erupting Geysir get your first view of the White River thundering over Gullfoss waterfall. Your river rafting adventure awaits! Shoot through exciting rapids and deep gorges. Dinner and overnight in Selfoss.
Day 5: Nature and Bird Life (B, D)
Travel along the south shore, a region of waterfalls, glaciers and black sand beaches. The bird watching in this area is excellent! See one of Scandinavia´s best folk museums at Skogar. Enjoy a short sea kayak venture along the ocean shore followed by a sumptuous evening lobster feast.
Day 6: Hot Springs and Horses (B, L)
Start the day with a relaxing visit to the surreal Blue Lagoon, an intriguing mineral hot springs. After a light lunch, meet your Icelandic horse for a pleasant jaunt through a lava-filled nature park. Overnight at Guesthouse Borgartun in Reykjavik, close to a swimming pool. Dinner is on your own- why not visit one of Reykjaviks many restaurants?
Day 7: Whale Watching and Mountain Bikes (B)
The day begins with a harbor cruise in search of whales and dolphins. Following the cruise, hop aboard a mountain bike for a journey into Heidmork, a wooded area smelling sweetly of birch trees. Overnight in Reykjavik
Departure Day 8: Open Day in Reykjavik (B)
We added a day trip cavorting in Super Jeeps up to glacier and going dog sledding.
Departure Day 9: Home to North America
Catch some last minute sight seeing and shopping before boarding the Fly Bus from (departs from nearby Cabin Hotel) for your afternoon transfer to Keflavik Airport for your flight home.
