River rafting, trekking & Chitwan National Park
September 27, 2000 Arrive: Kathmandu 1200 hrs. Transfer to Hotel Everest.
Kathmandu: Kathmandu is the capital and the largest city in Nepal and lies at an altitude of about 4500 feet in a fertile valley in the Himalayas. Average Temp high/low for October is 70F/56F. Places of interest include Hanuman Dhoka-the historic seat of royalty with its old temples & palaces, epitomizes the cultural and religious life of the people, Temple of Living Goddess, the Royal Palace, and Pashupathinath-the pagoda style temple with gilt roof & silver doors.
Bhaktapur- the city of devotees famous for its Golden Gate, Palace of 55 windows and Pashupathinath temple with erotic carvings.
Sept 28, Kathmandu - Morning mountain flight. Afternoon excursions to Pashupathinath, Bhaktapur & Nagarkot.

Sept 29, River Rafting: After breakfast, you will be transferred by car to transfer to Kuringhat, the put in point for your river rafting. You will meet the river guide/s here who will explain the use of safety equipment and the route. After the rafts are rigged, set off down the Trishuli River. The day will be spent within its forested canyon, bird watching, photographing and visiting local villages. Overnight in Tented Camp.
Sept 30, River Rafting - After breakfast you will begin rafting. Late afternoon you will arrive at Devghat, a religious shrine for Hindus. At this point Trishuli confluent with Kaligandaki and is called Narayani and flows into Chitwan Valley. The river slows down here and you will encounter fewer rapids. In the afternoon you will be transferred to Chitwan Nation Park. Overnight at Chitwan Jungle Lodge.
Chitwan Jungle Lodge: Located in the Surung Valley overlooking tall grasslands, middle hills & snow capped Himalayas. The jungle lodge is built in traditional Nepalese style. The rooms are with comfortable beds and the lodge has central dining area, a well stocked bar, separate hot & cold shower and jungle toilets. Chitwan pictures. Larry The Lizard in Chitwan.
Wildlife in Chitwan National Park includes, One-Horned rhinoceros, spotted deer, hog & samber deer, leopards and ever-elusive Royal Bengal tigers. An expert naturalist will accompany all jungle excursions.
Oct 01, This morning you will visit the elephant camp to see how animals are cared for. Later on you will go on an elephant safari to view wild life, a Crocodile Farm & bird watching. You will also enjoy a walk through the farmlands and nearby villages, which will acquaint you to the culture, farming and crafts of these colorful people.
Oct 02, Morning Nature walks & bird watching. After breakfast you will be transferred to Pokhra by car. It is a four-hour drive through the countryside.
Trekking: Upon arrival, you will be met by the Sherpa Guide and commence the Royal Trek- so named because Prince Charles trekked this route during his last visit to the kingdom of Nepal. Oct 03, Trekking: The scene from the first campsite overlooking the entire Pokhra valley offers the views of Macchepuchhare-Fishtail-, the mighty Annapurna range and Lamjung Himal. Today you will trek up to Gurung village, Shyaklung. Overnight in Tented Camp.
Oct 04, Trekking - After breakfast, you will trek to Chisopani Danda. Overnight at the Tented Camp.
Oct 05, Trekking - From here the descent is steep down to the valley floor, a series of over 3000 steps wind their way towards Bengas Lake. Lunch is served at the top of the ridge that separates Bengas & Rupa lakes. After lunch you will be transferred to Pokhra. Overnight at Fishtail Lodge.
Pokhra - the second largest city of Nepal is perfect work of art by nature. Nestled 2,700 feet above sea level in the Himalayas, Pokhra is a trekker's heaven. It is a valley of picturesque beauty, dotted with quaint villages, crystal lakes and shimmering streams. Annapurna range and the perfectly shaped peak of Macchepuchhare, the fishtail mountain, dominate the skyline. Short walks undertake all sightseeing other activities. The mountains appear clearer and one feels closer to nature. There are three beautiful natural lakes within fifteen minutes of walk from your hotel and airport.
Oct 06 Kathmandu: After city tour, you will be transferred to Kathmandu by car. Overnight at Everest Hotel. -- Thank God we changed this. We flew back to Kathmandu and spent our last night up in the hills of Naragokt at the Club Himalaya.
Oct 07 Kathmandu: Checkout from the hotel. Transfer to airport.
